As we reach this solstice, the Earth has concluded yet another cycle around the sun and it is time to reflect on the ripples we have set in motion during the last year.

I believe learning is one of the ways towards resilient futures for planet and people. At Gaia we aspire to welcome as many people as possible on our unfolding journey for a regenerative future, applying the knowledge contained in the 4 keys, to generate local change all over the world.

110 Countries

We are proud to celebrate the widening of Gaia Education’s reach, embracing this year students from 110 different countries! Communities across the globe are improving their social and natural systems using Gaia Education 4-D Whole Systems framework, so that they thrive within planetary boundaries, regenerate the natural environment and allow all human potential to flourish.

Project Based Learning +50% beneficiaries

Gaia Education’s Project-Based Learning is a dynamic learning approach in which stakeholders acquire appropriate skills and analytical tools while actively exploring real-life solutions to the challenges of designing sustainable settlements, villages and bioregions. We can celebrate the success of a 50% increase of the beneficiaries of these projects. Read about the successful PBL projects in Denmark, Sicily, Senegal, Bangladesh and India here.

Design for Sustainability + 60% students

Our flagship Gaia Education Design For Sustainability programme has increased its number of students by 60% compared to last year, and we are now welcoming over 125 students from a diverse range of countries.

Training of Trainers + 591% students

Our focus is also to address the international call for experienced trainers, facilitators and educators in the great transition towards regenerative cultures, a call that we answer with the Gaia Education Training of Trainers programme. We are pleased to note an enormous increase in ToT students with courses held in Scotland, Thailand and Brazil.

Large increase in number of worldwide EDE students

Since 2005, more than 240 Ecovillage Design Education- EDE have been formally certified or re-certified in 47 countries on six continents. In 2016 and 2017, there has been a clear rise in the level of interest in these programmes. We are proud to report a 37% increase in EDE students enrolled.

Make it count – We celebrate our students

At Gaia Education we celebrate our students.

We believe it is you who will go out and create local changes that will create global ripples. Let us celebrate the privilege of education! Let us make it count and work together to ensure a resilient future within planetary boundaries.

Thanks for this Summer to Summer cycle – Let’s fly together.
