SDG Community Implementation Flashcards

The SDGs Community Implementation Flashcards contain more than 200 questions related to the four dimensions of Gaia Education’s whole systems approach to sustainability (Social, Ecological, Economic and Worldview). Participants will explore these four dimensions of each of the 17 SDGs in question-focused small group conversations, inviting them to collaboratively identify actions and solutions aimed at implementing the global goals in ways that are relevant to their lives and their communities. This is an effective way of creating local community ownership of the SDGs.

Achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – one community at a time – requires us to facilitate widespread culturally-creative conversations that can lead to behavioural change by enabling people on the ground to co-create solutions in tune with local ecosystems and culture. By joining this training of multipliers you will have a chance to take part in such conversations and learn an easily replicable process to facilitate more of these conversations yourself in the future.

The Four Keys

The Four Keys are four comprehensive books compiled by members of the Global Ecovillage Educators for a Sustainable Earth (GEESE), offering an overview of the state of the art of sustainable settlements globally. Each key covers one of the dimensions of the EDE curriculum: Economic, Worldview, Ecological and Social. They make ideal introductions to EDE, companions on the journey of an EDE course or reference books for anyone seeking solutions to the complex problems of climate change, peak oil and carbon reduction.

Gaia Education Teacher’s and Youth Guides

The Gaia Education Teacher’s and Youth Guides are practical manuals for sustainability teachers, ecovillage and community design educators and facilitators who are conducting courses on the broad sustainability agenda, as well as for facilitators teaching sustainability in educational programmes that seek to inspire youth to design long lasting sustainable societies.

The books cover all aspects of the transition of sustainable human settlements arranged into four distinct areas: the Social, Ecological, Worldview and Economic dimensions of sustainability, making learning sustainability comprehensive, practical and fun.

The Gaia Education Ecovillage Design Curriculum

The EDE curriculum covers four dimensions of sustainability: Worldview, Social, Ecological and Economical. It was first developed and offered in several ecovillages (among them Findhorn and Crystal Waters) and has been adjusted and refined during the years since 1998. It is the result of the work of about twenty experienced ecovillage educators (“The Founding Geese”).

The EDE curriculum offers a wide range of practical application and innovative materials, ideas and tools that have been developed and tested in ecovillages, communities and urban transition settings worldwide.
