Ecosystem Restoration Design
Welcome to the Ecosystem Restoration Design online course, a collaborative initiative by Ecosystem Restoration Communities and Gaia Education. Launched in 2020, this transformative journey has already welcomed over 500 participants eager to delve into the realms of ecological renewal.
Course Modules:
- Restoring Natural Zones
- Restoring Agricultural Zones
- Restoring Urban Ecosystems
Embark on this educational journey, where each module propels you closer to becoming a champion of ecosystem restoration. Join us in this impactful course and contribute to the collective effort of creating a more sustainable and harmonious world.
The course is thoughtfully divided into five modules, each offering a unique perspective on ecosystem restoration. Participants are encouraged to choose at least one from the first three modules and continue with modules 4 and 5 to earn the full certificate. Please note that registrations for modules 4 and 5 are only accepted upon successful completion of one of the initial three modules. The course is designed to be facilitated, with each module building upon the knowledge gained in the preceding ones.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- List several causes of degradation (social, political, economic, ecological) to various ecosystems in multiple biomes around the world
- Describe specifically how these causes of degradation arise
- Explain techniques for restoring different ecosystems in different biomes
- Analyse why the restoration of ecosystems is not happening at the speed and scale needed, relative to their context
- Evaluate ideas for how to overcome these barriers
- Develop a basic restoration plan to restore an ecosystem close to your heart/home and understand environmental sustainability management
- Design with Nature!
