Meet our Partners

Our programmes have been taking place in 50 countries since 2005. We are very grateful for all our partners and organisers, associates and friends around the world, who have helped us to train more than 17,000 people over the past years.

Gaia Trust

Since its beginnings, Gaia Education has had a founding partnership with GAIA Trust, a Danish-based charitable trust founded in 1987 with the intention of supporting the transition to a sustainable society through grants and proactive initiatives like Gaia Education. This is made possible by the generous support of Gaia Trust and the guiding vision of Hildur and Ross Jackson.

Institutional Partners

UNITAR: United Nations Institute for Training and Research

An autonomous UN body established in 1963, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research is a training arm of the United Nations System, and has the mandate to enhance the effectiveness of the UN through diplomatic training, public awareness-raising, education and training of public policy officials.

UNESCO: Global Action Programme on Education for Sustainable Development

Gaia Education is an active partner of the UNESCO Global Action Plan in the Priority Action area # 5: Accelerating Sustainable Solutions at the Local Level. We have developed the educational tool, the SDGs Flashcards, in partnership with UNESCO GAP, used in workshops worldwide to engage stakeholders in the vital conversations that need to happen to accelerate SDGs implementation.

The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network

Gaia Education’s whole systems approach to sustainability (social, ecological, economic and worldview) explores each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals at the center of the SDSN work to identify actions and solutions aimed at implementing the global goals in ways that are relevant to people’s lives and their communities. This is an effective way of bringing about local community ownership of the SDGs.

Global Ecovillage Network

Gaia Education partners with GEN in order to deliver education programmes that “build bridges between policy-makers, governments, NGOs, academics, entrepreneurs, activists, community networks and ecologically-minded individuals across the globe, and to develop strategies for a global transition to resilient communities and cultures”.

This partnership links-up voices from around Europe on the topic of Sustainable Communities and renewable energy use. Gaia Education is a founding member of the ECOLISE council where it collaborates in the formation of an European portal for transformative community education.

Academic Partnerships

One of our international partner academic institutions may be offering a Gaia Education accredited course near you.

In addition to being closer to where you live, some of our courses with partner institutions allow you to work while you are learning, whether in a residential programme or online.

Currently a number of universities are partnering with Gaia Education to offer academic credits or a joint certificate for courses based on the Gaia Education whole-systems design curriculum. More universities will join this innovative partnership as we develop relationships with institutions around the world.

If you have academic contacts with a university near you and you think a partnership may be possible, please send their contact address and position title, and let them know that you have recommended them to us for a partnership.
