Chief Executive
May is a sustainability practitioner, educator and designer. Based at the UN Habitat Best Practice Designation, Findhorn Ecovillage, since 1992, May has been leading a whole generation of sustainability educators delivering capacity building activities in 48 countries in both urban and rural contexts and in different stages of development. Awarded one of the 100 Global Sustainability Leaders three years in a row, she has a diploma in Climate Change Diplomacy and an MSc in Spatial Planning with specialisation in the rehabilitation of Ghost Towns.
E-learning and Academic Coordinator
Giovanni is co-founder of Ecoaldea Huehuecoyotl, an ecovillage centre for the exploration of the arts and ecology in central Mexico and a founding member of the Ecovillage Network of the Americas. A professional musician and Arts-in-Education consultant, Giovanni divides his time between the US and Mexico, linking sustainable community projects in both countries. He is the current Gaia Education Chair of the Management Team, focusing on the programme development and e-learning aspects of the organisation.
Head of Innovation and Design
Daniel, PhD originally trained as a biologist, holds degrees in Biology (BSc. Hons., Univ. of Edinburgh), Holistic Science (MSc.,Schumacher College) and Natural Design (PhD., Univ. of Dundee). He was the director of Findhorn College between 2007 and 2010, is a member of the International Futures Forum, the RSA, and a Findhorn Fellow. Daniel lives on Majorca and works locally and internationally as a consultant, educator and activist. After participating in the first Gaia Education ‘Training of Trainers’ at Findhorn in 2006, Daniel joined Gaia Education in 2007. Having contributed to the development of the GEDS online content since 2012, Daniel recently took on the role of Head of Innovation and Design for Gaia Education. He also works in Innovation and Sustainability for the Universidad de las Islas Balears.
Head of Branding
Alex has been collaborating with Gaia Education since 2005. He holds a degree in Image and Communication in IADE (Arts, Design and Marketing Institute) in Lisbon Portugal, and has completed a holistic training course at UNIPAZ (International Peace University), were he also volunteered in communications. From a young age he has also been involved in several youth, social and student organisations. Alex has extensive experience in branding, communications, graphic and digital design, and he is responsible for creating and constantly developing the Gaia Education brand.
Project Based Learning Chief Trainer
Pradyut is a community development trainer, consultant for sustainable living and an experienced permaculture practitioner. He has trained with UNICEF on water and sanitation issues, specialised in community health and has extensive experience in working with grassroots movements and NGOs in India and internationally. He is a respected course facilitator and teacher in Permaculture, Non-Violent Communication/Conflict Resolution and organic farming.
Treasurer
Fasil is a chartered accountant (ACMA, CGMA) and founding partner of Community Focused Accountancy. Fasil decided to leave a successful career in London working for a renowned asset management firm, European Credit Management, in search of a way to provide support for local communities. Inspired by Gaia Education’s work to support communities across the world to live more sustainably, Fasil has taken on the role of Treasurer.
Fundraising Consultant
Sally worked for many years as a project manager, with significant experience in developing new partnerships and projects over the last ten years. She began working for the Findhorn Community as Youth Project Manager, and went on to join the International Committee of the Red Cross as a project manager in the Philippines and in Conakry, Guinea, and for Findhorn-based charity, Ecologia Youth Trust, as Project Development Manager and Fundraiser. Now focused solely on fundraising, her passion is supporting grassroots pioneers to get their projects off the ground and to render their work sustainable through securing funding and building their capacity in project cycle management.
Executive Secretary
Fiona is passionate about working in sustainable international development and has worked with projects in South Africa for the past 10 years. She holds a degree in International Relations and English Literature from Lancaster University and a Masters Degree from the University of Edinburgh. Previously Manager for CIFAL Scotland, a UNITAR Affiliated Training Centre, she has joined Gaia after working for 2 years at the Prince’s Trust.
Communications & Marketing Coordinator
Database and Website Administrator
Pedro is our website and database administrator. He is an Astronomer and has been working as an IT specialist and web-developer for the past three years. He also holds a vast experience in volunteer and NGO management and participated in a few humanitarian missions, the last two as part of a rescue team in the Aegean Sea due to the emergency refugees crisis in Greece. Pedro’s task in Gaia Education is to create and implement technological tools to support our outreach and learning activities worldwide.
